Gera (dpa/th) – The Society for Theater and Concert Friends Gera wants to contribute 120 new visitor chairs to the upcoming renovation of the puppet theater in the city. A fundraiser is planned for this, the Altenburg-Gera theater announced on Thursday. The budget available for the renovation does not include new furniture.
With the fundraising campaign, which starts on November 2nd, the theater and the funding agency are aiming for 10,000 euros. Construction work on the East Thuringian puppet theater, which has existed since 1967, is scheduled to start in early 2023 and last two years. The main aim is to renew fire protection and escape routes and improve the accessibility of the building. According to the city administration, almost four million euros are being invested from city and federal funds.
