Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) – Coach Torsten Lieberknecht is extremely satisfied with the development of second division leaders SV Darmstadt 98. “The group shows a high level of identification on the pitch with the lily on their chest. We also show passion and courage. Our offensive system gives us the opportunity to play attractive football,” said Lieberknecht at the press conference on Thursday. The Hessians are challenged on Saturday evening (8.30 p.m.) at FC St. Pauli.

Lieberknecht is looking forward to the game. “Floodlit games are always something special – especially in St. Pauli. Our guest block is also sold out. We’re looking forward to a special atmosphere,” said the 49-year-old. Keanan Bennetts, who was previously without a club and brought into the squad a week ago, could also get playing time in Hamburg. “In training you can see that he wasn’t lying around lazily, but that he was willing to keep fit during his time without a club,” said Lieberknecht. Darmstadt is currently leading the second division table ahead of SC Paderborn and Hamburger SV.
