Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – More and more charging points for electric cars are being built in Saxony-Anhalt. Most recently, the number of publicly accessible charging stations was 1174, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport said. Of these, 860 are so-called normal charging points and 314 fast charging points. According to the ministry, the number of charging points nationwide was 916 in April last year. In August 2017 there were 211.

In addition to the public charging points, there are also private ones. A statement on their number is difficult to make, said the ministry spokesman.

The number of e-cars on Saxony-Anhalt’s roads is also growing. A spokesman for the Saxony-Anhalt State Motor Vehicle Association said a few weeks ago that there were high double-digit growth rates in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period last year. As of July 1, 2022, almost 18,000 electric cars were registered in Saxony-Anhalt. This corresponds to an increase of around 23 percent compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, e-mobility still has a “marginal share” of 1.5 percent of the total number of vehicles in Saxony-Anhalt, according to the spokesman.
