A stolen car means a lot of inconveniences. There is often greater financial damage. According to current figures, car owners can feel relatively safe in the southwest.
Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – According to insurance information, total damage of almost 5.9 million euros was caused by car thefts in Baden-Württemberg in 2021. The General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV) reported that a total of 413 vehicles with comprehensive insurance were stolen. Compared to 2020, the number of stolen vehicles fell by around eight percent. On average, insurers paid around 14,300 euros for each theft.
According to the association, Baden-Württemberg is one of the safest federal states for car owners, along with Bavaria, Thuringia and Rhineland-Palatinate. Statistically, there are only 0.1 thefts for every 1000 cars with comprehensive insurance in the southwest, while the national average is 0.2.
