Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The 61st Hessentag will be held in Fritzlar from May 24 to June 2, 2024 under the motto “A city full of life”. “Then this city will become the secret capital of our federal state, to which many eyes will be directed,” said Axel Wintermeyer, head of the Hessian State Chancellery, on Friday about the host city.
In times like these, the state festival fulfills the task of “integrating, bringing together and informing” more than ever, emphasized Wintermeyer. The state festival strengthens the sense of togetherness and improves the image of the host city, which has a long-lasting effect. After the deprivations of the pandemic, it is important “that such an event can take place again and become a meeting place for all of Hesse.”
Fritzlar’s Mayor Hartmut Spogat revealed that the residents of his town have another reason to celebrate: In 2024 the 1300th anniversary of Fritzlar will also be celebrated. Fritzlar was the last host city of the Hessentag in 1974.
