Erfurt (dpa/th) – In the trial for the death of a young man on Erfurt’s Anger, the verdict is to be pronounced on Friday (10 a.m.) before the Erfurt Regional Court. According to a spokesman for the regional court, both the public prosecutor and the defense had previously requested an acquittal for self-defense against the accused 36-year-old.

At the beginning of the trial in mid-May, the public prosecutor had accused the man of bodily harm resulting in death. In October last year, he injured a 28-year-old after an argument with one or two knife wounds in the groin. The 28-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the hospital later that night. Numerous witnesses had been invited to the process with several hearing dates.
