All local and regional taxes can be paid through Bizum in the Balearic Islands from this Monday on the website of the Balearic Islands Tax Agency (ATIB), as long as the amount is less than 1,500 euros.

This form of payment thus adds to those already in force via telematics -through the electronic banking of collaborating entities or with a bank card-, as reported in a press release by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation.

In the case of Bizum, once this option has been chosen, the taxpayer who is a member of their bank will enter their mobile number and the bank’s payment gateway will open to accept and authorize it. Once done, the corresponding receipt can be accessed and downloaded, according to Europa Press.

A large part of the payments made are below the maximum amount allowed for this system. In relation to taxes and other municipal resources, the collection of which corresponds to the ATIB, a total of approximately two million receipts could be paid by Bizum.

Thus, in 2022 a total of 580,123 regional tax models were generated, of which 499,809 (86%) were for an amount of less than 1,500 euros. So far in 2023, 348,088 models have been presented, of which 303,139 (87%) have been for an amount of less than 1,500 euros.

Meanwhile, in the tax corresponding to the transmission of vehicles and other means of transport, in 2022 57,748 self-assessments of less than 1,500 euros were paid and, since January 1 of this year, 35,881. The regional rates of the ministries and agencies of the Administration of the Islands were 246,493 in 2022 and, from January 1, 2023, 148,970.

Payment by Bizum is currently implemented for mobile devices, to pay through the ATIB application -available from the official App Store and Google Play download platforms for devices that use the IOS and Android operating systems, respectively- only the taxes local and regional rates of all ministries. Now, all regional taxes are added, such as vehicle transmission and the eco-tax in the case of holiday homes.

A new module has also been put into operation at the ATIB electronic headquarters that allows interested parties to access information on their real estate and vehicles in the Balearic Islands.

Through this module, you can consult, among other data, the reference value of real estate. This is determined, where appropriate, by the cadastre, which is considered the tax base for the Property Transfer Tax and documented legal acts, and the Inheritance and Gift Tax.

Likewise, in the event that the ATIB is responsible for collecting periodic municipal taxes (receipts), related to real estate and/or vehicles, information on the receipts can also be accessed.

To access this module it is necessary to identify yourself in advance, either through the ATIB taxpayer code or with a digital certificate, electronic DNI or Cl@ve.
