Gollhofen (dpa / lby) – After an alleged bank robbery with a revolver-like bottle, a man in Central Franconia was admitted to a psychiatric clinic. The 62-year-old went to a bank branch in Gollhofen (Neustadt an der Aisch district – Bad Windsheim) and wanted to withdraw a high four-digit amount, the police said on Tuesday. Because he had not previously registered the withdrawal, the bank employees could not have paid him the amount on Monday.

The man then got angry and threatened to rob the bank. Shortly afterwards, when he was handling what looked like a revolver in the counter room, bank employees called a police patrol. When this arrived, the man had already left the bank. The officials later arrested the 62-year-old in a bank branch in neighboring Uffenheim. According to the police, the investigation revealed that the alleged revolver was a drinking bottle in the shape of a revolver. The police took the man to a specialist clinic.
