Barchfeld (dpa/th) – The Werra-Eltetal cycle path will be officially opened in the Wartburg district on Monday (2 p.m.). The 38-kilometer route from Barchfeld to Lauchröden is passable throughout, as announced by the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure. It can be used for everyday cycling as well as for cycle tourism. Existing, little-used roads and farm tracks were used for the cycle path. Along the route are, among other things, Möhra – birthplace of the Luther family – and destinations such as Wilhelmsthal Castle with its park and the medieval castle ruins of Brandenburg near Lauchröden.
