Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) – The Anhalt Theater and the Dessau City Archive are dedicating an exhibition to the long-standing Dessau court conductor August Klughardt (1847-1902). After the opening on Saturday in the big house of the theatre, the show about the composer, conductor, pianist and good friend of Franz Liszt (1811-1886) can be visited until November 27th.

According to the initiators, the occasion is Klughardt’s 175th birthday, who was born in Köthen and died in Dessau. From 1882 he led the court orchestra in Dessau. He has also made a name for himself as a composer of many chamber music and orchestral works.

The exhibition combines texts and images on the life and work of Klughardt as well as original documents from his estate in the city archive. According to the information, a historical trombone and an oil painting will also be presented.
