Munich (dpa / lby) – After years of high losses, the Bavarian State Forests are back in the black. In the 2022 financial year, Germany’s largest forestry company made a small net profit of 5.3 million euros, as the company announced on Friday in Munich. In the previous year, the loss had amounted to over 64 million euros. The main reason for the better result was the significant increase in the price of wood, as CEO Martin Neumeyer said. Although the state forests even sold slightly less wood than in the previous year, sales rose from almost 340 to 407 million euros.
