Paris Saint-Germain substitute goalkeeper Sergio Rico will be released from Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville on Friday almost three months after his serious accident with a horse. Sergio Rico has been cleared from hospital and will be discharged this Friday, according to hospital sources.

The 29-year-old Spaniard was admitted to Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville on May 28 with a head injury following an accident with a horse during the Rocio pilgrimage in southern Spain. After several days in a coma, the goalkeeper was discharged from the facility’s intensive care unit on July 5.

Five days later, the player published a message on social networks to reassure him about his state of health. “I wanted to thank everyone who showed and sent their love to me during these difficult days. I continue to work on my recovery,” the goalkeeper wrote on Instagram. “I feel once again very lucky, thank you all and hope to see you again soon,” added the former Sevilla goalkeeper, with whom he won the Europa League twice before joining PSG in 2020.
