Again not to zero! The Fürth descent continues after the draw in Regensburg. Coach Schneider is increasingly coming into focus. The sports director chooses clear words.
Regensburg (dpa / lby) – Greuther Fürth’s sports director Rachid Azzouzi took his team to court after the missed liberation in the 2nd Bundesliga. “That was bad. Too scared. Not enough courage,” said the Moroccan attested to the Franconian after the 2: 2 (1: 1) on Friday evening at SSV Jahn Regensburg. “Fear paralyzes. We lose the balls far too quickly,” Azzouzi continued to criticize after Fürth conceded at least one goal on the eleventh matchday.
Damian Michalski (34′) and Simon Asta (74′) scored for the game association in front of 10,716 spectators. Kaan Caliskaner (42nd/62nd) provided the interim lead for Regensburg. In the end, the point is not enough for both teams. In Fürth in particular, the crisis is getting worse and coach Marc Schneider is coming under increasing pressure after the next winless game away from home.
Even the first professional goal from Fürth’s Asta couldn’t brighten the mood in the Franconian ranks. “I’m happy with my first goal, but I don’t understand why we only drew again today,” said the Kleeblatt defender.
In the end, the Bundesliga relegated team had to be happy to go home with a point. Because the hosts were clearly the better team over the 90 minutes and were much closer to victory. A header from Regensburg defender Scott Kennedy (88th) landed just wide of the post. Shortly thereafter, Benedikt Saller flicked the ball from 14 meters to the far corner – his own man straddled in between.
“We deserved more than one point. At the moment we’re more frustrated,” reported Regensburg’s double goalscorer Caliskaner. Jahn coach Selimbegovic also knew about the lost points. Angrily, the 40-year-old had demanded more stoppage time in order to perhaps still win. In the end there was only a yellow card for complaining.
