How do you feel about homeopathy? The globuli question has been occupying the medical profession and patients for months – and not least politicians. Will the Southwest follow other countries and drop the additional designation for medical professionals?
Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) – In the debate about further training in homeopathy for doctors, the Baden-Württemberg State Medical Association is currently examining feedback from a public participation process. A spokesman for the chamber in Stuttgart announced that the entries would be viewed and processed. The results should initially be reserved for the responsible bodies of the Medical Association and the Ministry of Health as legal supervision. It was not initially certain when the public would be informed about this or about the further procedure of the professional representation.
The background to this is that the representative assembly of the State Medical Association decided in July to remove the additional designation homeopathy from the further training regulations. It sees itself in line with many other medical associations in Germany. In the course of the proceedings, the public had the opportunity to present their point of view from August 8 to September 5 on the Chamber’s website.
Among other things, the Ministry must check whether the amended statutes comply with applicable law. Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) had declared that he considered the planned abolition of the special qualification homeopathy to be wrong, and thus sparked a debate in the ranks of his party. The state medical association, in turn, announced that it wanted to find an amicable solution if the ministry did not grant approval.
According to experts, the abolition would initially not have any major consequences for patients, because there will still be practicing doctors with the additional qualification for years to come. The Medical Association does not want to change homeopathic anamnesis, diagnostics and therapy either. In addition, the number of new recognitions in recent years has been in the single digits.
