Schwerin (dpa/mv) – The weekly demonstrations against the high energy prices in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania occupy the state parliament at 9 a.m. today. The AfD has set the topic of the current hour “Defending freedom of expression – taking civil protests seriously”. Every week, thousands of people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania take to the streets to demonstrate against the high prices. Last Monday it was almost 10,000.

Other topics of the state parliament session are the challenges for old people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the EU bird sanctuary Lewitz in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim. The Greens are calling for the water level in the huge wetland south of Schwerin to be raised in the interests of climate protection. However, the Lewitz is used intensively for agriculture.
