The Greens have decided not to offer meat in the meals planned for the participants of their summer days, reports the newspaper Marianne. EELV has indeed confirmed that “100% of the catering offered in food-trucks will be vegetarian or vegan, largely organic and from the local sector” during this annual summer meeting scheduled in Le Havre from August 24 to 26. . The party recalled that a “meat-free diet makes it possible to further reduce the environmental impact of summer days”.

During previous editions, in Poitiers and then in Grenoble, certain dishes made of meat were still served. For several years, EELV deputy Sandrine Rousseau has multiplied media outlets to denounce the link between virility and cooking meat on the barbecue or between meat consumption and the violent fires that raged in Algeria and Greece.

Environmentalists also want to maintain a certain consistency between their words and their actions, avoiding generating a lot of waste during their summer days. Activists will receive “reusable cups and lunch boxes, from a recycled plastic industry” and a “recycled plastic cuichette” (a spoon-fork).

The summer days of the ecologist party have already been talked about because of the invitation made to the singer Médine. This choice triggered a flood of criticism. Target of elected officials and activists of the National Rally with whom he regularly clashes on social networks, Medina is accused by the latter of being an “Islamist”. But the rapper is also accused of homophobia and anti-Semitism in light of certain interviews, songs or past positions.
