Dresden (dpa/sn) – Baroque architecture meets brand new design in the Dresden Museum of Applied Arts Schloss Pillnitz until the end of October. According to the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen (SKD) on Friday, product and industrial design by 40 graduates from the 20 most renowned German design and art schools can be seen at the “German Design Graduates Show 2022” – from lamps to a new clothing system to furniture. The exhibition in the Design Campus in the Wasserpalais was created in cooperation with the German Design Graduates initiative and its project sponsor, the German Design Council.

Under the influence of the serious changes and developments in politics, society and the environment, the show is dedicated to the central themes of the time. The creations of the up-and-coming designers show “in a variety of ways how product design can go hand in hand with corporate, social and ecological responsibility”. The projects selected by an international jury are presented in five exhibition areas, including artificial intelligence, innovations in the medical field and everyday design. The Pelle children’s bicycle, for example, can be modified by girls and boys themselves. “In addition to the ability to balance, motor skills are also trained at an early age and it is conveyed that objects can be used and repaired for a long time,” it said.
