Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) – The playwright Sasha Marianna Salzmann received the Hermann Hesse Literature Prize 2022 for her book “Everything must be wonderful in people”. The novel deals sensitively and forcefully with stories of mothers and daughters from Ukraine who have become strangers , as the Hermann Hesse Literature Prize Foundation, based in Karlsruhe, announced on Wednesday. The work, which was published in 2021, will thus have its very own topicality. The award is endowed with around 15,000 euros.

The Hermann Hesse Promotional Prize and thus around 5000 euros goes to the writer and translator Steven Uhly for the novel “The Sum of the Whole”. The awards will be presented on November 4th in Karlsruhe.
