Kronach (dpa / lby) – In the district election in Kronach in Upper Franconia, incumbent Klaus Löffler (CSU) achieved a record result of 96.4 percent of the votes. Löffler, who has been in office since 2016, received 13,266 of the 14,315 votes cast, as the district office announced on its website on Sunday evening. Voter turnout was extremely low, with only 26.2 percent of eligible voters casting their votes. Other parties had not put up any opposing candidates – not even the SPD, which was formerly strong in Kronach and had provided the district administrator until 2016. According to the count, there were only 490 dissenting votes for “persons proposed by the voters”.
