Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Before the expected next corona wave in autumn, the state launched its booking portal for vaccination appointments. Around 660 doctors and pharmacies have already registered, so that around 10,000 vaccination appointments per week are available, as Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) announced on Monday in Stuttgart. “I appeal to the citizens: Use these opportunities.”
Only a few people are currently being vaccinated against the corona virus. But that could change if the number of infections increases in autumn, as feared. In addition, there will soon be new vaccines adapted to the omicron variant.
Lucha pointed out that the Federal Ministry of Health announced the delivery of the BA.4/BA.5 vaccines for this week. “In this way, appointments with these adapted vaccines can also be booked for booster vaccinations – as soon as they have arrived at the vaccinating offices.” That will probably be the case by the end of the week.
The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) currently recommends another booster vaccination for people over 60, i.e. a fourth spade. A recommendation for the vaccines adapted to the omicron variant is awaited.
