Munich (dpa / lby) – Specially trained pickpocket investigators who came especially to the Oktoberfest put a stop to several perpetrators at the weekend. On Sunday evening, the investigators observed a 39-year-old from Munich, who took several jackets and brought them to a cleaning room. The man who worked as a cleaner was checked and provisionally arrested, as the police said on Monday. Two 18 and 19-year-old men also tried to steal jackets – and were arrested.
A 34-year-old man who stole the cell phone from the purse of a 20-year-old American woman was also arrested. When the woman found the phone was missing, an acquaintance called the number. A man called and demanded several hundred euros for the return. The 20-year-old agreed with him on a handover location on the festival grounds – and informed the police at the Wiesnwache. Cell phones were also found on the man. He was taken into custody.
On Saturday, pickpocket investigators from Frankfurt arrested two women not far from Munich Central Station who allegedly stole the purse of a customer in a Munich shop.
