Schwerin (dpa/mv) – The expenditure of the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) for the medical care of its insured persons rose by eight percent last year to 659 million euros. “Statistically, every TK-insured person in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania received benefits worth 3,325 euros in 2021,” said the head of the TK state representation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Manon Austenat-Wied, on Thursday. This is above the national average of 3036 euros. At the end of 2021, 198,000 people from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were insured with TK.
Austenat-Wied complained that expenditure in the entire statutory health insurance system had risen “much faster” than income for years. For the coming year, the predicted deficit of all statutory funds together is 17 billion euros. The current rates that the state pays for the contributions of Hartz IV recipients do not cover costs. It is not fair that the contributors to the GKV have to raise the missing funds. She called for reform.
