According to the information, Karolin Schwab was born in Stralsund in 1987. She studied fine arts in Greifswald, London and most recently from 2014 to 2016 in Berlin with Ai Weiwei. In Pluchow she shows a mobile made of mirrors, as it was called.

The other nominees for the award were Sarah Fischer, Vincent Heppner, Johanna Herrmann, Christoph Knitter and Sten Niklas Washausen. A jury selected the winner.

The young artist prize for fine arts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been awarded every two years since 2016. It is aimed at young artists who have a connection to the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and are not older than 35 years. According to the information, the aim is to professionalize and make the young art scene more visible.
