Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The number of employees in the public sector in Saxony-Anhalt has increased. As reported by the State Statistical Office on Monday, a total of 110,945 people were employed in the public sector on June 30, 2021. That was 1790 more employees than in the previous year. According to the information, this is the third year in a row that an increase in personnel has been registered.

With around 60,000 people, more than half of the employees in the public sector in Saxony-Anhalt worked in the state area. Around 47,000 women and men were employed in the municipal sector, and around 2,600 people in the social insurance sector. Compared to the previous year, municipalities and municipal hospitals in particular increased their staff.
