The 75th edition of the Emmy Awards has been postponed until January 15 due to the strikes by actors and screenwriters that have paralyzed film and television production in the United States. The decision, communicated by the Television Academy, means delaying the gala for four months and placing it in the middle of the Hollywood awards season that will end with the Oscars.

The Fox television network has announced that the ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, coinciding with a festive bridge in the United States. The Emmys reserve a place in an agenda in which the Golden Globes, for example, still do not have a confirmed date.

The first Emmy Awards, dedicated to choosing the best of television production, already took place in January, 1949. Later, the awards were installed in September, as a way to open the fall television season for free-to-air televisions, once dominant.

HBO is the producer with the most Emmy nominations, thanks to the series Succession, The Last of Us and The White Lotus, which have received 74 nominations. In total, HBO received 127 nominations.

Strikes by actors and writers will prevent candidates from campaigning for their series. The writers’ strike has reached its 101st day today, longer than its strike in 2007 and 2008.
