Melsungen (dpa/lhe) – The police rescued a swan from a railway line near Melsungen. The animal did not want to give way to another dead swan in the track bed on Tuesday evening, possibly its partner, the police said on Thursday. The officials had the route in the North Hessian Schwalm-Eder district blocked and the dead swan recovered. The living swan still did not leave the railway line and was injured in the leg. So the police caught him. He was then handed over to an animal shelter and can be released back into the wild in a timely manner.
