Munich (dpa / lby) – The announcements at the Munich public transport stops could soon be easier to understand. “As part of a pilot project, we are currently testing a synthetic voice for announcements at underground stations as well as tram and bus stops,” said the Munich transport company (MVG) of the city. The feedback from market research is mostly positive. “We can imagine that this voice will also be used across the board in the future.” In the event of short-term disruptions, however, it will always happen “that announcements have to be made by staff from the control center”.

City councilor Alexandra Gaßmann (CSU/free voters) had asked the city to stop “snuffling on the platform”. In her application, she wrote that the vast majority of the announcements were unfortunately very unclear and often not understood on the platforms. The mobility department replied that the city was not responsible because it was the “operative business area of ??the transport company”, but they asked MVG and Bahn for the relevant statements.
