Neuss (dpa / lnw) – A truck accident on the A57 near Neuss on Friday led to long traffic jams on the busy route in the Rhineland. According to previous investigations, a semi-trailer truck traveling in the direction of Krefeld left the roadway to the right shortly after 6 a.m. immediately behind the Neuss-Süd Autobahn triangle and drove unbraked onto a concrete deflector. The force of the impact caused the truck to turn on its own axis and tip over on its side, according to the police in Düsseldorf. The fire brigade had to free the injured 33-year-old driver from the driver’s cab. He came to a hospital.
The A57 in the direction of Krefeld was completely blocked. Police said the closure was expected to last until mid-afternoon. The salvage of the almost unloaded truck was complex, soil had to be excavated. According to the police, the traffic was backed up for a length of ten kilometers in the morning. Motorists should avoid the area as far as possible.
