Düsseldorf/Cologne/Bonn (dpa/lnw) – A whole series of flights will also be canceled at Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports on Friday due to the pilots’ strike at Lufthansa. As early as Thursday afternoon, the airline canceled 28 of the 36 take-offs and landings planned for Friday in Düsseldorf, as the airport’s website showed. Lufthansa flies from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt and Munich.
The airline canceled three out of five planned take-offs and landings at Cologne/Bonn Airport. Lufthansa only flies to Munich from Cologne/Bonn.
The background: Lufthansa is canceling almost its entire program because of the announced pilot strike on Friday. Around 800 flights with an estimated 130,000 affected passengers are therefore canceled at the Munich and Frankfurt hubs, as the company announced on Thursday.
The union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has called on the pilots of the core company and the freight subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo to go on a day-long strike.
