Aachen (dpa / lnw) – Because of the low water levels as a result of the drought, the Aachen city region has banned the withdrawal of water from rivers. The general decree applies to all watercourses in the city region with the exception of the Rur and the Aachen city area, the city region announced on Thursday. Accordingly, the removal of water with “pump or suction devices” is prohibited. Violations can result in a fine of up to 50,000 euros. However, scooping up water with buckets or watering cans is still permitted.
