The city of Düsseldorf is taking a stand against so-called autoposers and has introduced fines for repeat offenders. A 22-year-old is now suing.
Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – After the introduction of fines for so-called autoposers in Düsseldorf, a first case will be heard in court this Thursday (2 p.m.). A 22-year-old from Willich complained.
In June 2021, he let the engine of his 500 hp car roar loudly in downtown Düsseldorf. A motorcycle police officer noticed this and reported the driver. A corresponding fine was imposed.
Irrespective of this, the city of Düsseldorf issued an administrative order against the 22-year-old. In it he was forbidden to pose with his car for three years.
If he is caught in the city area with spinning tires or a roaring engine, a fine of 5,000 euros will be due, it says. If people are endangered, it can even be 10,000 euros.
The city shouldn’t do that, says the 22-year-old. A single violation is not enough to label him as an autoposer. His car is also not too loud, but complies with the regulations. The city has threatened more than 20 autoposers with penalties so far.
The Düsseldorf administrative court is now dealing with whether the city is actually allowed to impose these penalties or whether the punishment for the behavior in question is reserved for the police.
