Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – At the end of next week, Deutsche Bahn will start several construction works in the Dortmund area, which will last several weeks and result in restrictions in local and long-distance traffic on a weekend. The regional trains 53 and 54 and the regional express trains 7, 13 and 57 are affected by failures or diversions, as Deutsche Bahn announced on Wednesday. Passengers can switch to buses or other lines.

Specifically, the Aplerbeck Süd train station is to be modernized. The federal, state and railways share the costs of around eight million. Switch work is also planned in Schwerte station and the modernization of a bridge in the city. The construction work will be concentrated in the period from September 10th to October 27th.

During this time, trains on the RB 53 between Dortmund and Schwerte are cancelled, and there is a replacement bus service. The RB 54 is also affected by failures between Fröndenberg and Unna, according to Bahn, travelers can switch to the RE 57, which in turn is being diverted due to the construction work. According to Bahn, trains on the Eurobahn lines RE 7 and 13 between Schwerte and Holzwickede are canceled on the last two weekends in September, and there is a replacement bus service.

From Friday evening, September 16th, to Sunday, September 18th, trains on the ICE line Bonn-Cologne-Berlin will also be completely canceled. The ICE line NRW-Berlin is also affected. Seen from Berlin, these trains are divided in Hamm, the train parts continue to Düsseldorf or Cologne. The section to Düsseldorf is not affected, but around half of the trains are canceled on the section to and from Cologne. The remaining trains are diverted and therefore take longer.
