Dresden (dpa/sn) – The German Red Cross (DRK) in Saxony wants to expand the potential for voluntary services and expand the variety of possibilities. According to the state association, more than 180 people will be involved in Dresden from September 1st, more than in the previous year. A good 100 are in the federal voluntary service, almost 60 are doing a voluntary social year and 20 are doing a voluntary service of all generations.
The response shows that this service is “a successful instrument for social cohesion”. Young people are interested in social commitment and use the offer for professional orientation. For the first time, the information according to the Federal Volunteer Service in Civil Protection is possible.
According to the German Red Cross, young people can gain experience in the emergency services, in schools and day care centers, social administration, medicine and science, develop their personality and obtain low-threshold qualifications, for example as youth leaders, helpers in care or medical services. In addition, adults could get involved in this way, also flexibly in part-time employment.
