Erfurt (dpa/th) – Almost 1000 young people will start their voluntary services in Thuringia on September 1st. Over a period of six to twelve months – with an extension of up to a maximum of 18 months – the volunteers make a contribution to society and also benefit from the experiences they have for themselves, as the Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday in Erfurt. According to the information, the young people are used, for example, in hospitals, in geriatric care, in kindergarten, in school and in sports, but also in youth work, in culture or in the ecological sector.
According to the ministry, the overall responsibility for completing a voluntary service in Thuringia lies with 18 recognized and approved providers. They conceive, design and accompany the various voluntary services and implement them. For their commitment, the volunteers receive monthly pocket money of 350 euros and are covered by social insurance.
