Ratingen (dpa / lnw) – The Autobahn 3 has been closed in the direction of Cologne after a rear-end collision with several vehicles between Ratingen-Ost and Mettmann. According to the first findings, no one was seriously injured, said a spokesman for the Ratingen fire brigade.
A car suddenly had to brake hard due to traffic, the vehicles behind had gotten too close together or were traveling too fast to avoid a collision. The Ratingen fire brigade spoke of eight vehicles involved and fifteen people affected, the Düsseldorf motorway police of six cars and three minor injuries.
The closure lasted indefinitely on Sunday afternoon due to clean-up work. According to a police spokesman, drivers were able to dodge the highway 52. Traffic was also backed up in the opposite direction due to onlookers.
