Güstrow/Rostock (dpa/mv) – The police in the district of Rostock have caught a tank fraudster who has already been given a suspended sentence in an accelerated procedure by a court. As a police spokesman said on Friday in Güstrow, it was a 32-year-old man who had also admitted to the alleged crimes. The confessor was sentenced to five months in prison by the Rostock District Court for fraud in several cases and violations of the Weapons and Drugs Act, suspended for two years.
The man was observed on Tuesday evening refueling at a gas station in Sternberg (Ludwigslust-Parchim) and fleeing with squealing tires without paying. Police officers were able to stop and catch the driver, who was under the influence of drugs, in Güstrow. Knives covered by the Weapons Act were found in the car.
The investigation revealed that the driver had previously proceeded in the same way in Greifswald, Güstrow, Bad Kleinen near Schwerin and Sternberg. The damage had added up to several hundred euros.
