A total of 62 people, of which two have been admitted to the General Hospital of Ciudad Real, have been affected by a food poisoning detected among the guests at a wedding held in Piedrabuena (Ciudad Real).
As sources from the Ministry of Health have informed Efe, the General Directorate of Public Health has launched the protocol to investigate the causes of this food poisoning, which is produced by the ingestion of food with the presence of pathogenic germs or their toxins.
Ministry sources have not specified which pathogens or toxins could have caused this poisoning, since the corresponding detection and diagnostic techniques are currently being carried out.
The protocol put in place by the Ministry includes taking samples from the people attending the wedding, in addition to taking samples at the place where the event was held.
The wedding was attended by 179 guests and it has been possible to contact 137 of them, of which 62 have presented symptoms.
Of all those affected, two have required hospital admission and, according to the Ministry of Health, are evolving favorably.
