A man, R.O.F. 37-year-old, was arrested this past Wednesday afternoon in Vigo after threatening to kill his ex-partner with a screwdriver in the presence of her four- and six-year-old children.
It was around 4:55 p.m. when the Local Police became aware of the events through a call requesting assistance in the Travesía de Vigo due to a couple’s argument.
Once at the scene, the agents found an individual with a “passive attitude” on the landing of the stairs, despite the fact that from outside the building, the cries of a woman could be heard inside the apartment.
For this reason, the agents entered the house and spoke with the victim, who was in a “serious state of nervousness”, according to the Local Police in a statement.
She stated that her ex-partner had already broken all her belongings the day before, as well as various electrical appliances, including the television. Due to these events, a discussion took place between the two and in the middle of it, the man threatened to kill her with a screwdriver, while her 4 and 6-year-old children witnessed the scene. Therefore, she called the police.
After this, the agents met with the man, who gave “contradictory” statements, for which he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of gender violence. Minutes later, the officials transferred the woman to a medical center, due to the episode of anxiety that she suffered.
