Scottish showdown in Swabia: Duos from all over southern Germany will compete against each other in six disciplines in the Ravensburg district on Saturday. The audience can also intervene.
Horgenzell (dpa/lsw) – Teams from all over southern Germany are competing in the tenth “Upper Swabian Highland Games” today. 20 duos are expected to attend the competition in Horgenzell near Ravensburg this year, said co-organiser Frank Brielmaier. The teams of two compete there in “Scottish-Swabian” disciplines such as tree trunk pulling, straw bunch throwing and whiskey barrel rolling.
A jury awards a maximum of 20 points per discipline, and the audience also rates the names and outfits of the teams according to their originality. The winner is determined from both. Last year, two duos with the same number of points had shared the victory.
Due to the corona virus, the competition took place without a supporting program and with fewer teams and a limited number of spectators. This year’s event will again include a performance by a bagpipe group and a whiskey tasting.
