Hettstedt (dpa/sa) – An 86-year-old woman died after an apartment fire in the Mansfeld-Südharz district. The fire broke out in a ground floor apartment in Hettstedt early Wednesday morning, the police said. The woman was rescued from the apartment, resuscitated and taken to a hospital, it said. She died there shortly afterwards. Due to the significant smoke development, other tenants of the house had to be evacuated. A 68-year-old was treated as an outpatient for circulatory problems. 31 firefighters were on duty. The cause was initially unclear. No information was available as of this morning about the extent of the damage.
