Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The number of employees in the plumbing, air conditioning and heating trades continues to grow in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the end of 2021, 53,308 people were employed in the occupational group – 686 more than a year earlier, the State Statistical Office IT.NRW announced on Wednesday. Since 2012, the number has increased by almost a fifth (18.4 percent). However, women are underrepresented in the trades, which are in high demand due to the energy transition, among other things: According to the latest figures, only 475 of the 53,308 employees in NRW were female at the end of 2021.
