The Ministry of the Economy announced on Tuesday to postpone until August 10 the deadline for the declaration of real estate “to allow all owners a serene declaration”, after two postponements due to the influx of declarations. “In recent days, many owners have validated the declaration of occupation of their real estate,” the ministry said in a statement.
“To allow all owners a peaceful declaration and to ensure fair taxation of taxpayers, the Manage my real estate service will collect declarations until August 10,” he announced. This is the third postponement of this declaration campaign which took many owners by surprise and displeased the public finance unions who denounced in particular an overload of work for tax officials.
On the tax site, each owner must indicate for each of his properties his situation: if it is empty, in what capacity he occupies it himself or decline the identity of a possible tenant. Latecomers are liable to a fine of 150 euros, but “as this is a new procedure”, the Directorate General of Public Finance will show “benevolence” and “no penalty will be applied this year”.
