Even after the fourth matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, Arminia Bielefeld is still without points. The Bundesliga relegated also loses against Hamburger SV, which underpins his ambitions. Kiel clearly wins the northern duel, while Karlsruher SC switch from zero to three points very late.
Holstein Kiel – Eintracht Braunschweig 3:0 (1:0)
Holstein Kiel remains on the road to success in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the home game against newly promoted Eintracht Braunschweig, the Storks came to a 3:0 (1:0). Steven Skrzybski (12th/73rd) and Benedikt Pichler (83rd) scored the goals for the hosts, who are fifth in the table with eight points and are still unbeaten. Braunschweig, on the other hand, are still without points and goals after four matchdays.
Eintracht still has the red lantern of the bottom of the table. In the 20th minute it could have been 2-0 for KSV Holstein. Goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic couldn’t hold Finn Porath’s long-range shot, but Skrzybski’s follow-up shot was blocked. As the game progressed, the Braunschweig keeper let another ball bounce off, but Fiete Arp put it free-standing over the goal.
Luc Ihorst had a great chance to equalize in the 41st minute, but the player from Braunschweig only hit the side netting. Three minutes after the restart, Ihorst had another first-class opportunity, but was denied by keeper Thomas Dähne. Immanuel Pherai was also unable to convert the margin.
Arminia Bielefeld – Hamburger SV 0: 2 (0: 1)
Arminia Bielefeld is slipping deeper and deeper into the crisis. The first division relegated defeated Hamburger SV 0: 2 (0: 1) and is still waiting for the first point after four matchdays. HSV, on the other hand, is firmly in the top group after their third win. Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (28th) and substitute Laszlo Benes (74th) scored for the deserved HSV victory. Things could soon get uncomfortable for Bielefeld’s new coach Uli Forte. The Italian had given his regular formation another chance despite the defeat in Rostock (1:2), but the game was controlled by the guests. Königsdörffer rewarded HSV.
Arminia remained harmless for a long time in front of 26,875 spectators and were lucky that Königsdörffer (34th) missed goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino and Mario Vuskovic (43rd) on the crossbar. After the break, the hosts improved and were not determined enough when Masaya Okugawa (48′), Stefan Klos (53′) and Frederik Jäkel (72′) had chances.
Benes scored in the middle of Bielefeld’s urgent phase. The Slovak, who came from the first division club Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer, scored his first goal for Hamburg from 20 meters. HSV striker Robert Glatzel, on the other hand, remained without a goal this time.
Karlsruher SC – SV Sandhausen 3: 2 (1: 1)
Karlsruher SC has clinched its first win of the season. The Baden team won the home game against SV Sandhausen 3-2 (1-1) despite falling behind twice. David Kinsombi (10th) gave SVS the lead, Malik Batmaz (32nd) scored the deserved equalizer for KSC. Ahmed Kutucu (61st) scored the 2:1 for the clever guests. But the hosts didn’t give up, Simone Rapp (84′) scored the deserved equalizer for Baden and Lucas Cueto (87′) even secured three points for KSC.
Despite the 0-1 draw, the hosts didn’t seem insecure at all, but instead took control of the game. Sandhausen tried to make the rooms narrow with clever staggering. But the KSC kept finding gaps and was able to set offensive accents.
The equalizer was well deserved, and Karlsruhe then kept the pressure on, but fell behind again. However, the Baden morale proved and fought down Sandhausen. For Sandhausen’s coach Alois Schwartz it was a reunion with his former club, which he looked after from 2017 to 2020. His assistant at the time, Christian Eichner, is now the head coach of KSC.
