Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia continues to decline. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 407.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Tuesday morning. It was 436.3 last Friday and 452.0 a week ago. For the federal government, the RKI gave an incidence of 381.5 on Tuesday.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, there were 19,880 new confirmed corona cases in NRW within one day. 26 deaths related to Covid-19 were added in the most populous federal state in the period.
