Kamenz (dpa/sn) – In Saxony, 18,515 contracts for dual training were concluded last year. That was almost 380 or 2.1 percent more than in 2020, as the State Statistical Office in Kamenz announced on Tuesday. This shows that the effects of the Corona crisis on the Saxon training market have weakened somewhat.

There was an increase in contracts compared to the previous year in all training areas except the public sector (minus 4.3 percent). Housekeeping (plus 9.5 percent) and the liberal professions (plus 8.3 percent) achieved the highest growth. In the most heavily populated training areas of industry and commerce and skilled trades, the increase was 1.9 and 1.2 percent, respectively.

According to the authorities, at the end of 2021 there were 49,813 people nationwide in dual training, almost a third of them women. The number of trainees in the Free State of Saxony therefore fell slightly for the second year in a row (minus 0.5 percent). The number of trainees with foreign nationality fell by 2.3 percent compared to the previous year.
