Mühlhausen (dpa/th) – After the death of a three-year-old child, the public prosecutor’s office in Mühlhausen initiated investigations into negligent homicide. It is being investigated whether a close family member may have violated their duty of care, said the spokesman for the authority, Dirk Germerodt, on Tuesday. The child had fallen into the Unstrut and drowned in Mühlhausen last week.

According to initial findings, the girl suddenly disappeared while feeding several children and adults with ducks and was later discovered lifeless on the bank of the river. According to Germerodt, the exact circumstances should now be examined more closely. The Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk had previously reported.
