Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – According to the NRW Pharmacists’ Association, fever juices for children are currently hardly available. In particular, fever juices with the active ingredient paracetamol are affected, according to the chairman of the North Rhine pharmacists’ association, Thomas Preis. The SPD in the state parliament now wants to know from the state government what it is doing to supply hospitals and pharmacies with fever juice.

According to the Association of Pharmacists, several manufacturers have withdrawn from the production of paracetemol fever juice. However, products with the active ingredient ibuprofen would also become scarce. “Fortunately, the wave of colds and fevers from the beginning of summer has subsided,” said association chief Preis: “But we are looking forward to the winter with concern.” Since pharmacies don’t want to leave anyone without care, fever juice is now often mixed in their own laboratories – but that is time-consuming and labor-intensive.

The SPD parliamentary group makes a small inquiry on the subject in the state parliament. MP Lisa-Kristin Kapteinat wants to know from the state government in which municipalities there is “an acute shortage of fever juices” and “what measures is the state government taking to prevent a general shortage of medicines in autumn and winter?”
