Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – A crested deer has moved into the Frankfurt Zoo. The female named Samantha is the only specimen of its kind in the facility so far, the zoo said on Monday. The seven-year-old shares the enclosure with a muntjac, which is also a type of dwarf deer. In the long term, the female from Magdeburg Zoo is to be kept company by a crested deer buck and care for offspring together with him. According to the zoo, crested deer are listed as near threatened on the IUCN Red List.
