Dresden (dpa / sn) – Hydrochloric acid leaked on the premises of a food manufacturer in Dresden. Firefighters and specialists let the corrosive substance flow out of an 18 cubic meter container into a drip pan in a controlled manner, as a fire department spokesman said on Monday. Accordingly, an employee of the company discovered the leak in the container on Sunday evening. Because the acid continued to escape on Monday, the fire brigade warned of an odor nuisance and asked people within a radius of 500 meters to keep doors and windows closed.

There was no danger for the population on Monday morning, as the fire department announced on Twitter. The cause of the leak was initially unclear.
