Lahr (dpa / lsw) – An 84-year-old man died in a swimming accident at the Waldmattensee in Lahr. The man had not returned from swimming on Sunday, after which his family alerted the emergency services, the police said in the evening. A rescue helicopter then discovered the man lifeless under the water surface. He could only be recovered dead. It was initially unclear how exactly the swimming accident in the Ortenau district could have happened.
